OUR STORY

For over forty years, the choir has become a highly respected group within the choral scene in Adelaide and maintained a reputation for high standards of choral singing, whilst having fun in achieving this.

Cantabile sing a mixture of music ranging from Jazz, Gospel, through to Classical and Baroque. Each year we perform a major work and have built up a strong relationship with soloists from State Opera, Adelaide Chamber Singers and members from the Norwood and Burnside Symphony Orchestras and Brass FX. Major works have included Gounod’s Messe Solennelle St Cecilia, Rutter’s Magnificat, Duruflé’s Requiem, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Rutter and Puccini’s Requiem and Vivaldi's Gloria.

More recently we have performed the Adelaide premiere of Nicholas Buc’s choral and orchestral work, Mary MacKillop Mass.

Our lighter programs have been presented more recently as cabaret shows. These have been very popular, often selling out. The Christmas season has become a hive of activity from Lessons & Carols, which we present in a number of churches around Adelaide, to our very long association as the resident choir at the Burnside Carols in the Park.
